Frequently Asked Questions
No. A Japanese Head-Spa is a multi-step treatment that goes well beyond shampooing to address and improve many hair and scalp issues. Think of this as a pampering facial for the scalp.
Anyone with a scalp! This holistic service not only deeply cleanses and nourishes the hair and scalp (which is often overlooked), but also provides peace, stillness, and whole body relaxation.
A Japanese Head-Spa service promotes hair growth, prevents hair loss, and maintains optimal scalp health by combining deep cleansing, nutrient-rich conditioning and blood flow stimulation. This holistic approach ensures that each follicle is nurtured, paving the way for stronger, more resilient hair growth.
No. While all practitioners (should) focus this service on exquisite scalp care, the service itself can vary greatly from one location to the next depending on the level of skill and expertise of the practitioner, as well as a difference in products, tools, technique, and modalities incorporated. If you've been underwhelmed with your Japanese Head-Spa service elsewhere, we encourage you to try Kalo, where we are fully trained and in all aspects of hair and scalp care, and deliver a bespoke experience.
We recommend indulging in the Japanese Head-Spa monthly, just as you would a monthly facial. If we are working on more targeted treatments or hair-loss, the treatment may be done more frequently, as advised by your certified service provider.
No. We recommend to refrain from shampooing for 24-48 hours prior to your Japanese Head-Spa appointment. This will provide us a better insight to the starting condition and challenges of your hair and scalp to best address your specific needs.
We do not perform Japanese Head-Spa services on clients with extensions in their hair. This is, however, a great enhancement to your extension maintenance appointments! We simply remove your extensions as usual, preform the Head-Spa service, then reinstall your extensions.
During your Japanese Head-Spa treatment, your artist will use essential oils, shampoos, scrubs, detoxifying treatments, and masques that are all-natural, vegan, and organic wherever possible, as well as various massage tools and modalities as deemed appropriate to each client's unique needs.
When you arrive for service, you will change into a spa robe, but may leave on clothing from waist down (so be sure to wear comfy pants). Necklaces and earrings may be removed prior to receiving your service.
The investment of a Japanese Head-Spa service is determined by artist's experience level, certifications, and specialized skills. Due to our advanced training and comprehensive knowledge in esthetics, trichology, and Eastern-wellness and holistic practices, we are able to deliver result-based treatments with both immediate and cumulative benefits.
We complete the Japanese Head-Spa service with a towel dry, but you may add on a blow-dry and/or style if you wish at a la carte pricing.
Yes. A Japanese Head-Spa service will deeply purify the scalp and stimulate blood circulation, creating an optimal environment for healthy hair and encourages new growth. In our targeted sessions, we take this a step further with red-light therapy, high frequency, and products specifically formulated for clients dealing with unwanted hair loss.
